Choosing cabinets for a dry desert climate

Why climate matters

Southern Utah air is dry and summers are hot. Wood moves as humidity changes, and finishes fade in strong sun. Picking the right construction helps cabinets look good for years.

Construction

Plywood boxes hold screws well and resist moisture near sinks. Many quality lines also use high-grade engineered materials that stay stable in dry air. We explain the options in each line we offer.

Door style

Shaker doors are the most popular choice right now because they work with modern and traditional homes. Slab doors give a clean, contemporary look, and they are easy to wipe down.

Finish

Painted finishes give a clean color, but can show hairline cracks at the joints as wood moves. Stained and textured finishes hide that movement better. Ask to see both side by side.

Hardware and layout

Soft-close hinges, full-extension drawers, and a well-planned trash pull-out make daily life easier. We plan these during the in-home visit.
